Dezeen has revealed the 80-strong longlisted for this year’s Dezeen Awards sustainability categories, including designs by Carmody Groarke, Sancal and SOM.

The 80 longlisted projects, which are in the running to be crowned winners across five different sustainability project categories, are by studios located in 27 different countries spanning Kazakhstan, Panama, Taiwan and Germany.

The top project city locations are London which leads with 15 longlisted entries, then Tokyo and New York both with five, followed by Melbourne, Honolulu and Bengaluru each with two.

The longlists include an elongated extension to a 1970s terrace in London, a minimalist store clad with tactile bars of soap also in London and the first hotel in the USA claimed to be carbon-positive in Denver.

All Dezeen Awards 2025 longlists revealed this week

Dezeen Awards 2025, in partnership with Bentley, revealed all longlisted projects this week. The architecture, interiors and design longlists were announced earlier this week.

“The calibre of this year’s sustainability longlist demonstrates groundbreaking and material-driven solutions that are pushing the industry towards a more sustainable world,” said Bentley head of lifestyle design Ben Saltmer.

“Longlisted projects showcase pioneering techniques, from biotechnology to plant-based enterprises, that address global challenges around material waste.”
