Italian studio NM3 and architect Silvia Guerrini have created a pared-back store interior for fashion brand Miss Sixty in Milan, which juxtaposes gleaming steel and bright yellow hues with nude tones and amber glass.

NM3 and Guerrini designed the store, located in a 19th-century building at Piazza Liberty in central Milan, to have a clean, minimalist interior.

The designers used a monochromatic colour palette for the ground floor of the two-storey shop, which will be Miss Sixty’s main retail space.

Here, they combined sand-coloured concrete and pale travertine with screens in amber glass and perforated metal, slotted in between classical pillars.

“We wanted to use soft, neutral colours on the ground floor, such as sand, skin tones, and travertine,” NM3 chief creative officer Francesco Zorzi told Dezeen.

While the ground-floor space has mostly neutral hues and tactile details such as beige curtains, these have been contrasted by steel and mirror fittings and a bright yellow wall that marks the store’s changing room area.

The colour is a nod to the downstairs space, which customers reach by walking down a travertine staircase.

NM3 and Guerrini drenched this basement room, which will be used to host events, in colour with a yellow resin floor.

The vibrant hue, which is Miss Sixty’s brand colour, is juxtaposed with “a neutral grey coloured textured plaster that works as a backdrop for any kind of event or activation,” Zorzi explained.
